The acting officers of the Wimberley Computer Club met Thursday, July 2, 1998 at 7:00 PM in the Wimberley Village Library. Individuals attending were Acting President, Charles Coe; Acting Vice President of Operations, Don Coleman; Acting Vice President of Programs, Allan Eastwood; Acting Secretary, Susan Springer; Acting Treasurer, Ariana Vincent; and Alma Springer.
A discussion of meeting locations and facilities took place. The two main locations at present are the Wimberley Senior Citizens Activity Center and the Wimberley Village Library. The Activity Center is larger, but involves a $25.00/use fee. The Library has no fee. Don Coleman mentioned that the Library had an overhead projector that we could use. Allan Eastwood said he would check on some other projection equipment. It was decided to meet in the Library and continue negotiating with the Activity Center. The next item of business was programs. A brainstorming session of possible speakers took place wherein the names of Rod Hardy, Ken Roberts, Ed Wood, a speaker from 3M, a speaker from YEEHA, and Jim Carroza were all mentioned. Allan Eastwood will invite Rod Hardy to speak at our first meeting on September 3, 1998. Publicity for this meeting will be very important so it was decided to talk to Linda Allen or Kitty Folke about doing an article in the Wimberley paper.
The third item of business was dues. It was decided that dues would be $15.00 per year per family. A year was defined as September through August. If someone wanted to join between September and March the dues would be $15.00. If a family joined between March and September the dues would be $7.50 for that time frame. A family was defined as those living at the same address.
The fourth item of business was a meeting time and the club name. The time was set for 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM. the first and third Thursday of the month. The name of the club will be the Wimberley Computer Club. The acting officers will meet again on July 16, 1998 at 7:00 PM at the Library. The meeting broke up at about 8:45 PM.
