On Thursday, August 27, 1998, the acting officers of the Wimberley Computer Club met in the Wimberley Village Library at 7:00 PM. Individuals present were Acting President, Charles Coe; Acting Vice President of Operations, Don Coleman; Acting Vice President of Programs, Allan Eastwood; Acting Secretary, Susan Springer, Alma Springer and Barbara Hunter.
The minutes were read and approved.
Programs were again discussed with Jerry McGhee speaking on the internet on October 1, 1998. Tentative program for November - a presentation by Al Leikis of Ma & Pa Internet Servies and a video on Windows '98.
Allan Eastwood announced that an article will appear in the Wimberley newspaper on Saturday and an entry in the Digest of the Wimberley newspaper on Wednesday.
It was decided that we would put feedback forms, copies of the Bylaws, Registration forms and copies of the agenda on a table for people to pick up at the September 3rd meeting and again on October 1, 1998.
Charlie Coe had emailed some operating procedures to each member of the board. These were discussed and amended.
It was decided that another position in the Programs area was needed to help research grants and education opportunities available to our members. This position would fall under the Vice President of Programs.
It was decided that the board would approve all links to be placed on the web page.
Susan Springer announced that the web page had been registered with several search engines, but it may take as long as two weeks before the Wimberley Computer Club would appear on the search engines. She also announced that a counter had been placed on the page to help the board evaluate the number of people visiting our site.
It was suggested that we needed to change meeting nights due to the projected size of the organization. A discussion followed. It was decided that we would wait a few months to see exactly what the interest in the organization would be.
The next meeting of the board will be September 17, 1998, in the Wimberley Village Library at 7:00 PM.
The meeting adjourned about 8:50 PM.
