Minutes of the Wimberley Computer Club

January 22, 2002

Meeting was called to order in the Library, at 7 p.m. by President Al Sternthal. The 37 members in attendance were welcomed by the President, and new officers were introduced.

Minutes of the November meeting were approved.

Treasurer's report of $2449.92 was accepted.

Old Business: Curt Busk said there are 20 names now on the list for "Intermediate Windows" class (teacher: Rhondda Cotten). He will check with all those to determine the 12 who are available to attend the first classes this year. This class will be held at the Katherine Ann Porter facility, @ $30 per student (club to pay balance of tuition) for 6 sessions. Dates to be determined. Another session of classes will be offered again after this one is completed, and members were invited to sign up on the waiting list.

The following schedule was announced: 1st Thursday = Grab Bag 1 - 2:30 p.m. 2nd and 4th Thursdays = SIG (tentatively, Internet Class) 1 - 2:30 p.m. (Curt and Rod Rose are directors of SIG'S) 3rd Thursdays = Digital Camera class (Rod Rose & Glen Fryer) 1 - 2:30 p.m. 4th Tuesdays = Regular meeting 7 p.m.

New Business: There was a reminder to pay 2002 dues.

Program: Gordon Dysart presented a program entitled: "How computers were used to determine ownership of the underwater oil field owned by United Kingdom and Norway, in the North Sea".

Gordon announced that the program for the February meeting will be "Adding on and upgrading the PC".

It was announces that instead of using random selection from entire club roster, the numbered sign-in sheet at monthly meetings will be used to determine winner of the door prizes each month. Numbered cardboard tabs will be used in drawing from the "hat".

This month's winner of the (Firewall Software) door prize was Mary Nall.

Meeting was adjourned at 8:20 p.m.
