Meeting was called to order at 10:00 a.m. by Pres. Albert Sternthal. Also present were: Gordon Dysart, Curt Busk, Rod Rose, Jan Jackson, and Bernice Brown.
Minutes of the last Board Meeting were read and approved.
There was discussion about calling these meetings "Board Meetings", and not "Executive and Operational Board Meetings". Al moved that we change this designation only to simplify the term, and not to change anyone's title of "Operations Officer". Curt and Gordon seconded. Motion carried (with Rod voting against).
Treasurer's report was given by Al, in the absence of Mary Nall. Approximate total was $2,800 (e-mailed to Al by Nall). Exact total will be noted later.
OLD BUSINESS: Jan reported that Don Coleman will be official photographer for the Historical file.
Curt reported that KAP will contact us about when to re-apply for the grant mentioned in last month's Board Meeting. Curt also reminded us that the Windows Intermediate classes begin today, at KAP from 4:30 - 6:00p.m. It was decided that members who sign up for the class but do not respond, should be billed for the $30 tuition.
Suggestion was made that the Digest announcements in the Wimberley View can also include a reminder to pay dues. Members who want to remain active but have neglected to pay current dues should be reminded by e-mail.
The list of Wimberley Clubs and Organizations, currently available at the Visitor's Center does not include the Computer Club listing. It was decided that the Secretary request that the Computer Club info. be listed on this form. Al's phone number will be the contact one.
New Membership cards will be distributed to currently paid members at the next regular meeting, February 26.
Suggestion was made that we check with Sylvia Banks (Publicity) about asking the Wimberley View for an article on the Computer Club.
Curt suggested that we could have a potluck dinner at some time in the future, to encourage new members. Canyon Lake Computer Club has done this, and were successful in having each member bring a friend. It was also mentioned that if we out-grow the space at the Library, we could meet at KAP facility.
There was discussion about having more "for pay courses" with further studies on computer education.
Rod announced that the Digital Photography SIG would continue today at 1pm. at the Library, led by Glen Fryer.
NEW BUSINESS:
Curt reported that the Club "Computer Fixers", Done Coleman and Curt Busk (who help members with computer problems at no charge) are usually offered a donation for the help they give. The personal donations are refused, but Al moved that it would be a good policy to accept a donation (of around $25) to the Computer Club, if the person so desires to donate. Gordon seconded the motion, and motion carried unanimously.
Gordon announced that the speaker for the Feb.26th meeting will be Bill Whitten, presenting "Updates and Add-ons" for your computer. Gordon also said that the March meeting will be a speaker from Motorola, and the April meeting will be a speaker from IBM.
Meeting was adjourned at 11:05 a.m.
Respectfully Submitted
Bernice Brown
