Minutes of the Wimberley Computer Club Board Meeting

February 20, 2003

Meeting was called to order at 10:00am, by President Al Sternthal. Also present were Curt Busk, Rod Rose, Marsha Yearian, Cal Neil, and new historian,______________________.

Minutes of the January meeting were not read or asked for. (Due to weather, Secretary Marsha Yearian was late)

Treasurer Report was not available as substitute for treasurer was not at the meeting probably due to weather. There was a discussion of a bank balance of $600 + available for expenses and a reminder that dues need to be collected at the next monthly meeting.

OLD BUSINESS

Curt Busk: Sent a letter to M. F. Johnson stating the intent of the Wimberley Computer Club to contribute $2500.00 toward the purchase and installation of cabling for a “computer wired facility” for the new Civic Center. (Copy of letter in records.)

NEW BUSINESS:

1. Al Sternthal: May want to consider contributing a computer to the new Civic Center. Curt Busk stated a need to ask that a room within the Civic Center be sat up as a computer training facility. We may want to look into grants toward this possibility. It was mentioned to contact Jenny Robinson, a local grant writer about this. There was also a suggestion to start a drive in the community to raise funds for this training facility.

2. Curt Busk: Received a notification from IRS needing verification of non-profit status. Curt completed and mailed prior to meeting. (Copy of this in records.)

3. Curt Busk: Brought to the Board’s attention that the library and KAPS school have been used for the past two years as meeting locations for the club. There was discussion about making contributions to the two organizations. The l ibrary has had contributions from the club in the past and is happy with the club at this time. KAPS has never had a contribution from the club. A proposal of $200 to KAPS and $100 to the library was suggested; however, all agreed to be table this discussion until the next meeting with the general consensus that KAPS should received a contribution and the library not receive one because of past donations.

There was a reminder about the last meeting for digital camera classes the same afternoon that may need to be re-scheduled for next month due to the weather.

Next Tues at the regular monthly meeting would be Rhondda Cotton.

Also would like to start having handouts again about Tips on Computers.

Meeting was adjourned at 11:30am.

Respectfully Submitted
Marsha Yearian
